Third Training Run

Yes, we did have a training run on Saturday, in spite of the weather. I just wish I wouldn't have forgotten my camera. 5 of us from our group made it, making it somewhere around 20-25 total Runner's World runners.

I did NOT want to get out of bed, but once I got there it really wasn't as bad as I thought. Yes, it was slippery and we had to be cautious, but I had layered well, so the cold was manageable. I would do it again, but next time with my new Yak Trak's.

I know some of you did your mileage on a treadmill, and that is great as well. When the weather hands out something like this, we have to do whatever it takes to get our mileage in.

So far, next week looks to be pretty cold as well. I'm not thinking all of this will be melted, but I'm thinking the roads and paths should be clear. Maybe there will just be snow on the grass areas. I'm just hoping there is little to no wind.

Well, Misfits, Let's see what adventures our Fourth Training Run, will give us.

Happy 2010 to all!!

Second Training Run

We made it through our second scheduled training run and had a pretty good turn out!!

Was really nice to see Tracy and Cheryl out after they both have been missing in action for a while.
Everyone congregated in an effort to stay warm and discuss the route for the dat. Some of us did the 6 scheduled miles and others did additional mileage to prepare for a marathon they will be racing prior to the OKC Memorial Marathon.
We have a nice size group and I think people are beginning to get to know one another, and maybe beginning to find a running partner. Having someone to train with just makes it all the more fun.

I've noticed with the cold weather it's a little harder to count on the fountains working, so it might not be a bad idea to bring your own water while the weather is so cold. I've seen the forcast for next Saturday and I'm just praying the weather men are wrong. The forcast I saw, showed a low of 13 Friday night and a high of 34 Saturday. If this is right we will definitely need to layer.

Well, let me take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas. Safe travels to those who will be traveling to see family. I will see everyone Saturday morning. I'm sure I will have some extra calories I will need to burn. Glad we are scheduled for 10 miles!!

First Training Run

Well, today was our first training run in prepartion for the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. It was great meeting the people that will be training with the Marathon Misfits. Some are new to Runner's World and some returning Runner's World regulars. I think we have a good group of people. Everyone seems eager to prepare for the marathon. For some it will be there first attempt and for other's it will be an attempt to improve their PR.

I am new to the world of Blogging, but want to use this as a tool for our group. Who knows what kind of stories the coming weeks will unfold.

Hope everyone has a good week, until we meet again, next Saturday!!
